2. Subtracting Scientific notation examples

1. Find `(5.1*10^5) - (11.2*10^6)`

Solution:
`5.1*10^5 - 11.2*10^6`
`=0.51xx10^6 - 11.2xx10^6` (Rewrite numbers to have same power of 10)
`=(0.51 - 11.2)xx10^6`(Subtract numbers)
`=-10.69xx10^6`
`=(-1.069xx10^1)xx10^6`(Write 10.69 in scientific notation)
`=-1.069xx10^7`

2. Find `(4.2*10^-2) - (3.3*10^-3)`

Solution:
`4.2*10^-2 - 3.3*10^-3`
`=4.2xx10^-2 - 0.33xx10^-2` (Rewrite numbers to have same power of 10)
`=(4.2 - 0.33)xx10^-2`(Subtract numbers)
`=3.87xx10^-2`(already in scientific notation)

3. Find `(2*10^4) - (3.3*10^5)`

Solution:
`2*10^4 - 3.3*10^5`
`=0.2xx10^5 - 3.3xx10^5` (Rewrite numbers to have same power of 10)
`=(0.2 - 3.3)xx10^5`(Subtract numbers)
`=-3.1xx10^5`(already in scientific notation)

4. Find `(8*10^5) - (5.3*10^4)`

Solution:
`8*10^5 - 5.3*10^4`
`=8xx10^5 - 0.53xx10^5` (Rewrite numbers to have same power of 10)
`=(8 - 0.53)xx10^5`(Subtract numbers)
`=7.47xx10^5`(already in scientific notation)
